I’ve been crying with friends over the finale of Ted Lasso for the last four days but I need to try to get my thoughts out in a post or it’s gonna drive me crazy. This is gonna be a long and complicated one!
the way sesame street, a pbs puppet show for literal babies, is pressing on with pride content despite vitriolic monsters descending on every post to insinuate they’re pedophiles or demons while some of the biggest companies on the planet who could swim in olympic swimming pools of money like scrooge mcduck on steroids buckle and cave just emphasizes how completely and utterly pathetic these corporations are. they’d butcher a baby if it meant saving a penny.

The best version of Ted Lasso was and always will be bi-Ted who ends up with gay-and-genderqueer Trent.
But I also admit I’m confused by the narrative that Trent didn’t get to do anything this season. I feel like he got as much as Higgins and more than Dani or Isaac, all main characters. Yeah, I’ll always want to know more about him but he was in all of four episodes during s2 and I love every minute he was on screen in s3. His stuff with Roy and gaining the team’s trust, becoming part of the Diamond Dogs, Amsterdam, Total Football, the book, girl-talk, James-Lance-reactions, his wardrobe and props. Yeah, some of it isn’t in the writing but it’s still on the screen? We still know him so much better now.
I work in a high school and graduation is tomorrow and I’m so fucking exhausted and stressed and emotionally wrung out and it’s been an amazing year in many ways but it’s also ending with my two all time favorite bosses (I’ve had a lot of bosses!) leaving (which sucks so hard I can barely function) and I just read the James Lance interview and I’m feeling emotional but I need to go play volleyball in this adult league I’m in (which will make me feel better) but I just want to sit down and cry all night and … adulting stays fun y'all
Ted Lasso, the character, is one of the only representations of ‘sometimes getting better with your mental health issues means that you are less visibly happy, and that is okay, because you are not required to be happy in order to be loved’ out there and I am really discouraged that so much of the audience is angry at that.
This frame in particular haunts me… What do you mean they put this gay symbol (that was actually pointed out by a character earlier in the episode) next to his head… And it meant nothing???
I am far from having a huge understanding of the Premier League but I wanted to try to clear up something. If I am wrong about any of the following, please let me know!
I’ve seen a few posts with people confused about how Richmond won the match but came in second for the title, or assuming that Richmond had an additional match after the West Ham game that the audience didn’t see. We did see the last match, though. In the Premier League, the title goes to the team who earns the most points in the season. There are no playoffs. During the season, teams earn 3 points for each win, 1 point for each draw, and 0 points for a loss. The way the points were going into the last week of games, Richmond had to win and Manchester City had to tie or lose in order for Richmond to jump ahead in points. But since Man City won their match, Richmond winning meant that they came in second, Man City kept their points lead and won the title.
By being in the top 4, Richmond advances to the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Champions League, where they compete against the top teams in Europe for an additional title. Going based just on what I’ve read while trying to understand Ted Lasso, the Champions League is basically a season-long tournament that starts after the Premier League season. This is about the end of my understanding but I believe the Champions League overlaps significantly with the subsequent Premier League season. And between that and the FA cup and a tight and long Premier League schedule, plus international/World Cup play, it feels like these guys are constantly playing and competing.
